Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Collins (born in Mexico) is the Mexican American sportscaster. Her current job is with ESPN as a reporter for SportsCenter as well as occasionally hosting SportsNation. She was hired by ESPN in the year 2016. Her mother is the reporter for television Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins was a bilingual since she was nine years old a useful talent that enabled her to get her first job as a production assistant with Univision in Miami which provided her with the opportunity to work with the producers of National programs like Nuestra Belleza Latina, Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud and Primer Impacto. In St. Petersburg, she was hired to the CBS station as the sports reporter. She moved from St. Petersburg to Rio Grande Valley in 2009 to become a reporter at KNVO TV 48 Univision. Spanish stations KNVO TV 48 Univision, as well as Fox2 News. Her stories covered immigration as well as drug trafficking and other issues on both the Texas as well as the Mexico border. The family settled in Miami after moving to Mexico in the US. Her parents divorced soon after and, in the year 1995, she got married to a naval designer named Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo passed away in 2006 from kidney cancer. On a family vacation in Ohio, the young Collins had taken a position alongside her elder sister. Antonietta is a senior in high school but she knew exactly what career path she wanted. While deciding if Mount Union was right for her Antonietta decided to go visit the campus. It turned out that she liked the campus and that the school offered the major she wanted. She graduated from high school and was enrolled in media studies at the university. Her professor Mark Bergmann, who managed WRMU FM and was student in her class, developed a lasting relationship with the student. His passion for journalism and her self-confidence encouraged her. In turn, she, tried to meet his expectations and never let him down.
