Burns' television career began in 1995, when she portrayed Peg, a character in the Spanish American sitcom Out of the Blue. Burns joined Baywatch the action-drama show in 1998. Following that, she starred as Baywatch: Hawaii. Burns then left Baywatch due to her first pregnancies.
